THREE COLORADO NONPROFITS TO RECEIVE AWARDS
Consumers United Association Recognizes Excellence in Financial Education
with Right on the Money Awards

Denver, Colorado, November 14, 2011 – Three Colorado nonprofit organizations will receive awards from Consumers United Association for providing excellent financial education programs in their communities.

The Financial Education and Economic Transformation Center (FEET Center) of Aurora will be recognized for the Financial Education and Asset Development Program (Finance Club).  The program provides in-depth financial education to high school students in several Aurora Public Schools through an after-school club.

Faith Community Service Fund www.faithnet.info of Greeley will be recognized for their Getting Ahead program, which provides program participants with a pathway to self-sufficiency.  The program involves participants in learning about personal finance through an investigational education approach which leads to behavior changes and improved money management. They each develop a plan with goals, to motivate change.

Rocky Mountain Microfinance Institute (RMMFI) www.rmmfi.org  of Denver will be recognized for their Business Launch Boot Camp.  The program helps low-income individuals explore business ownership as a means to create self-sufficiency in their households.

Each organization will receive the Right on the Money Award and a cash award of $3,000 for their programs at a luncheon in Aurora on Wednesday, November 16.

Consumers United Association created the Right on the Money award in order to recognize organizations, schools and individuals which are offering unique, high-impact financial education programs serving niche populations.  The three winning organizations were selected from many nominations received.  “These three organizations stood out among our nominees because they are offering different pathways to economic security for participants.  Each program also has tremendous potential to grow,” says Renée Beauregard, Executive Director for Consumers United Association.

Consumers United Association is a nonprofit consumer membership association with a mission to improve the financial lives of Colorado consumers through financial education and advocacy.  The Right on the Money award is a means by which the organization can help to foster the best financial education programs in the community.
